Oman Named Partner Country of MITT 2026

The Sultanate of Oman has been officially named the Partner Country of MITT 2026 - the International Tourism and Hospitality Trade Fair, marking a significant milestone in the rapidly expanding tourism relationship between Oman and Russia.

The announcement comes as Russian tourist arrivals to Oman reach record highs, signalling a new era of tourism growth, cultural exchange, and long-term cooperation between the two countries.

Russian Market Emerges as One of Oman’s Fastest-Growing Tourism Sources

The Russian market has become one of Oman’s most dynamic inbound tourism segments. Between January and November 2025, Oman welcomed 77,000 tourists from Russia, representing a 148% increase year-on-year. By the end of 2025, total arrivals from Russia are expected to exceed 80,000 visitors.

This surge in demand has been driven by several strategic developments, including the opening of an Oman Tourism Board representative office in Russia, Oman Air’s transition to year-round flight operations, and the introduction of a mutual visa-free travel regime, significantly simplifying travel for citizens of both countries.

Unprecedented Transport Accessibility Strengthens Tourism Flow

To meet growing demand, Oman has significantly expanded its air connectivity with Russia. A major milestone was the launch of the first-ever charter flights between Moscow and Salalah during the 2025–2026 winter season.

These direct flights provide Russian travellers with seamless access to Salalah and the Dhofar region, a popular winter sun destination renowned for its subtropical climate, pristine coastline, and ancient frankincense heritage.
